Mexican Recipes

Mexican Recipes vary a great deal regionally, but the majority have their origins in Mexico, as most of the ingredients and spices used are native to the country. However, with the arrival of conquistadores, who introduced rice to Mexico in the 1520's, Mexican Recipes were broadened and the Spanish also combined some of their own ingredients and cooking methods with the Mexican cuisine at the time. Consequently, apart from a slight Caribbean influence, Mexican Recipes can be similar to some Spanish food, but generally a little spicier - particularly in the south.

The country has produced a delicious variety of dishes and in some villages there are still some Aztec style Mexican Recipes with ingredients such as: Rattlesnake, Ant Eggs, Iguana and Spider Monkey!!!

Relax! You won't find anything quite so exotic in our selection of Mexican Recipes here - just some really tasty ideas. Don't forget the Tequila!
